A Loss In the McMahan Family
Sunday, 30 December 2007

Today (12/29/2007) we lost a huge part of our hearts. Paul's Grandpa "Penny" passed away. It was Grandpa who was the beginning of the racing legacy in the McMahan family. Paul raced 1/4 midgets for Grandpa starting at the age of 5.
"We knew that someday we would have to face this, but you always hope that "someday" never comes in this case". " Unfortunatley it came today, and it is real hard to deal with."
We are a strong family and we will get through this with tears, and memories. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers at this extremly hard time. Our love and thoughts go out to Grandma Penny, Carol, (Paul's mom), Aunt Janice, Aunt Linda, Uncle Jim, and all of our family in California.
This picture is of our son Brayden and Grandpa Penny at the 1/4 midget track in California. Grandpa was sharing some of his knowledge of the sport with Brayden. This is something that Brayden still cherishes to this day.

Paul McMahan will be piloting the #0 Car owned by famed sprint car driver Rick Ferkel.
Monday, 03 December 2007

Paul McMahan and Rick Ferkel have joined forces to compete for the All Star Championship for the 2008 season. “Rick called me on Thursday to ask if I would be interested in driving his # 0 car for the All Star points chase for 2008. I have spoken with many different owners and crew chiefs about driving for them next season and had yet to find exactly what I was looking for, until Rick called.  Rick wants to race and have fun, while also giving me the equipment I need to be competitive. After coming off of the last race at Charlotte with all the bad luck I had, I am more than ready to race and have fun and make a living while doing it. Rick and I have always gotten along real well, and my wife and I are looking forward to a wonderful racing relationship with Rick and Cathy.

The #0 Sprint car is owned by Sprint Car Hall of Famer, Rick Ferkel, sponsored by:
Shorty's Variety Recycling out of Findlay, OH.
Griff's Engines out of Sandusky, OH.
Zeis Development LTD.  out of Tiffin, OH.
Kerr's Speedshop out of Tiffin, OH.
Smith's Farm out of Tiffin, OH.

An Update On Paul
Monday, 05 November 2007

We wanted to take this time to thank each of you that have e-mailed, called, or text us to check on Paul's condition. He is doing fine. His big toe is broke and he is having to use crutches. He told me over the phone today (he is in Charlotte for the WoO banquet that is being held tonight.) that he can stand on his foot as long as he doesn't put his full weight on it.They said that they couldn't do anything for him except give him the crutches to use until he can put his weight on it.  I guess the inside of the cockpit was pretty beaten up from things flapping around in there,so we are very fortunate that is all that got broken. What a horrible weekend he had for his last time in the #20 car. I am just thankful after seeing his crash from Friday night that he was left with out major injuries from that wild ride.

As for his future plans: He plans to race this weekend in Hanford , CA. @ the Cotton Classic. The following weekend in Tulare, CA. @ the Trophy Cup, The World of Outlaws down under in January. Many have asked what his plans for 2008 are. All we can say is look for an announcement to come in the future. The kids and I are looking forward to some husband and daddy time. I see many honey do's coming up.

Right now most importantly is that we ask that you pray for Paul's Grandma Penny. (his mom's mother). She suffered a heart attack on Sunday and we are waiting to get results to see how much damage is done to her heart. She is very sick, and we pray that she gets well soon.
Thanks!
Jan McMahan

Final Report From the World Finals
Sunday, 04 November 2007

Steve Kinser had won a lot of close races in his career, including two of the three closest finishes this season, and he added to this total on Saturday night, inching out Danny Lasoski by 0.150 seconds in the finale of the inaugural Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Kinser and Lasoski had the capacity crowd of over 14,000 fans on their feet for most of the race, on a track that provided two and three-wide racing all night. For the 543rd A-Feature win of his World of Outlaws career, Kinser earned $10,000, with all the action being caught live on SPEED.

Race Report From Night One at the World Finals
Saturday, 03 November 2007

After picking up a very lucrative victory last Saturday night on his way to the inaugural Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Jason Meyers could not wait to climb back in the car and hit the track this weekend. He continued what has been a very solid week on Friday night, edging Donny Schatz in a thrilling finish to capture his fifth World of Outlaws A-Feature win of the season, to take home the $10,000 top prize, and in the process, became the first A-Feature winner of the Outlaws World Finals.

Meyers dove under Schatz exiting the third turn on the final lap, after using a strong run off the second corner that helped ultimately propel him to the lead, with Schatz battling back on the high side of the track exiting in the fourth turn. Meyers won a drag race down the front straight away to take the checkered flag by 0.155 seconds, before a very large and enthusiastic crowd that witnessed the historic event that saw the World of Outlaws compete for the first time ever on the same track on the same night with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.
